Land Route Cut Off, Krueng Geukueh Port Becomes A Piles Of Aceh Flood Assistance

VOI.ID - The breakdown of land access to flood-affected areas in Aceh has made Krueng Geukueh Port the main center for the distribution of logistical assistance to a number of districts/cities in North Aceh and Lhokseumawe.

To ensure the smooth distribution of aid, PT Pelindo Multi Terminal (SPMT) Branch Lhokseumawe always manages to coordinate and consolidate intensively with KSOP Lhokseumawe, Lhokseumawe Police through Dan Pos KP3 Port, Danramil, Kominfo Lhokseumawe City, Dan Pos Lanal, local government, and Basarnas.Pelindo Multi Terminal Lhokseumawe Branch Manager Aulia Rahman said this consolidation was carried out to map distribution routes, identify urgent needs, and accelerate post-flood situation recovery.

Aulia Rahman said that since the flood spread, the entire team has been on standby 24 hours to ensure the dock, loading and unloading equipment, and the logistics chain runs optimally."In times of crisis like this, ports are not just infrastructure, but humanitarian control centers.

We stand with all agencies to ensure Aceh recovers faster and logistics can be immediately distributed to the public," Aulia said in an official statement, Wednesday, December 3.

Pelindo Multi Terminal Branch Lhokseumawe seeks to ensure that each ship can dock and unload its cargo safely and efficiently to help the community and can recover immediately after a major flood.

A number of aid ships and humanitarian mission supporters have arrived at Krueng Geukueh Port, the State Ship (KN) SAR Purworejo 101 docked on Sunday, November 30 at 06.00 WIB with 60 personnel deployed to support evacuation operations in North Aceh and Lhokseumawe City.

Then, the Express Bahari 2F ship departed from Malahayati and docked at Krueng Geukueh Port on Sunday, November 30 at 19.00 WIB, carrying logistics in the form of basic necessities that would be distributed to communities affected by the flood.

Then followed by a wooden boat carrying logistical assistance from the Aceh DPRK which arrived in Krueng Geukueh on Monday, December 1.

Most recently, KN Antares and the Express Bahari ship were also scheduled to dock on Tuesday, December 2 carrying logistical assistance and providing transportation access for people from Langsa to Banda Aceh.

Meanwhile, Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian said the port is now a vital point for distributing aid to North Aceh and Lhokseumawe City.

The reason is that the delivery of aid by sea was carried out because land access from Banda Aceh could only be passed to Bireuen. All bridges in the Kuta Blang area, Bireuen, were completely cut off due to the swift flow of flooding.

"The distribution of aid is not possible by land. Therefore, the Krueng Geukueh Port is maximized as the main route," said Tito.
